Microsoft exec: Targeting of Americans’ records ‘routine’
WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal law enforcement agencies secretly seek the data of Microsoft customers thousands of times a year, according to congressional testimony Wednesday by a senior executive at the technology company.

- Federal law enforcement(연방 법 집행부)는 MS에게 1년에 2400 – 3500건의 비밀명령을 내려 개인정보를 요청함
- Apple, Google, Facebook 및 Microsoftsms 2020년 상반이에만 112,000건 이상의 데이터 요청을 처리, 이중 85% 데이터 제공 동의함
- Snapchat의 경우, 2020년 상반기 17,000건 데이터 요청 처리함
- 요청된 정보에는 통화기록, 이메일, 문자, 사진, 쇼핑, 운전경로 등 일상적인 민감한 개인정보가 포함
- 함구령(gag orders)를 통해, 오랜 시간(수개월~수년)동안 정보주체에게 해당 요청을 숨김
- 메타데이터를 포함한 모든 개인정보의 암호화 및 독립된 키 관리가 요구됨
